O'Hara Township Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Net

OPERATING FREQUENCIES AND TIMES

The O'Hara Township Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Net is activated the first Sunday of every month at 9:00 PM local time on the W3YJ repeater (output frequency of 443.450 MHz / PL 100.0 Hz and input at the standard 5 MHz + offset at 448.450 MHz).

Purpose

The Net meets for the purpose of testing Amateur Radio Communications and as a forum where subjects related to Emergency Communications in and about the O'Hara Township area may be discussed. The net will also be used to exchanged communications between the O'Hara Township Emergency Coordinator and the Amateur Radio Operators of the O'Hara Township Area.

Jim Farringer, our Township Emergency Management Coordinator, is a licensed Amateur Radio Operator (KB3JXG) and checks in on the Net regularly to give us any communcations from the EMA or other Township Officials.

Simplex Back-up Frequency

If interference or technical problems prevent the use of the W3YJ repeater on 443.450 MHz, an alternate frequency of 146.580 MHz simplex will be used. Use of alternate frequency will be decided by the acting Net Control and only if conditions are warranted. We are also using the 2 meter frequency of 146.580 / 100 Hz PL as a general call frequency for the Township.
