(SKYWARN is a group of trained severe weather spotters that report directly to the National Weather Service and assist the NWS in issuing timely warnings. Many SKYWARN members are Amateur (HAM) radio operators who participate in emergency nets that are activated on the local 2 meter repeaters in the event of a weather emergency.)
